It is often said, “eyebrows frame the face. “ Many people are choosing to have their eyebrows microbladed. This is a great way to enhance ones appearance. However as with any procedure, it may have drawbacks, so it is important to proceed with caution.
Microblading which enhances and or replaces your eyebrows with “hair like strokes,” using semi permanent ink, has become very desirable. Along with the growing popularity of this technique, newer and less expensive inks have entered the marketplace. Not all inks are the same and some may contain toxic or other ingredients.
I am seeing more and more clients that are unhappy after their brows have been tattooed or microbladed. They are hoping to find a remedy for their problem. Often the ink has been applied improperly and/or it has literally changed color i.e. blue, pink! After a short consultation on laser tattoo removal, I always perform a test spot on the corner of the brow to see how the ink will respond to laser. What I am seeing more frequently is the ink turns a darker color or reddish brown, usually due to iron oxides in the ink. Unfortunately, with this type of reaction, removing or lightening the ink with a laser is not a good option.
So to help ensure a positive experience with microblading, it is important to ask a few questions before proceeding:
Artist technique and quality of ink are major factors that will determine the end result.
