Extractions

The term “Acne Surgery” is very intimidating, especially to someone that has no idea what that could possibly mean. Acne Surgery is a medical term used for acne extraction which is the manual removal of the “stuff” that clogs our pores. Extractions of blackheads, whiteheads, milia and pustules on a consistent basis can be a beneficial addition to your acne treatment regimen.

In our practice, we recommend acne extractions to teens and adults who have mild to moderate acne. We find that with treatments about 2-4 weeks apart our patients have clearer skin and a noticeable reduction in pore size. Acne surgery alone and/or in combination with other acne treatments can help to maintain healthy acne free skin for a long period of time.

Acne surgery can often times be covered by your insurance with a recommendation by your provider. If you are interested ask your provider next time you’re in for a follow up and they can help determine if acne surgery is right for you. We recommend you also check with your insurance and see if it’s a covered service, as well as if a co-pay or deductible is required. If you’re looking to have acne extractions but perhaps don’t have coverage or insurance, you can also pay out-of-pocket for the same service without a provider recommendation.
