Rosacea (pronounced roh-ZAY-sha) is a common skin disorder of the facial skin. The cause is unknown but there are several interventions available to help control symptoms. Any one of the following warning signs is a signal to see a dermatologist for diagnosis and appropriate treatment:

  • Frequent blushing
  • Redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead
  • Small visible blood vessels on the face
  • Bumps or pimples on the face
  • Watery or irritated eyes

The signs and symptoms of Rosacea may become increasingly worse without treatment.  Rosacea cannot be curred but it can be controlled with the help of a provider. At Seattle Skin and Laser we offer a variety of options to meet each patients unique needs:

  • Topical and oral medications
  • Photofacials – using a pulsed dye laser
  • Recommendations on an appropriate skin care routine
  • Information on lifestyle and environmental triggers

We can also treat erythema (redness) or telangiectaseas (visible blood vessels) with photofacial therapy. Redness and Rosacea can both have an emotional impact, decreasing self-confidence and self-esteem. Some patients report avoiding public contact or cancelling social engagements due to their symptoms. Please call our office if you are interested in scheduling an appointment with a provider to discuss your symptoms and an appropriate treatment. In honor of Rocasea Redness Awareness Month we are hosting a special event and offering discounts through April 30th.
