What is a Scar?
Scars on the face and body are often the result of both surgical and non-surgical wounds and, depending on skin type and location, may or may not heal in the most aesthetically-pleasing manner. Scars are formed when trauma to the skin occurs. Minor scars will typically heal and fade over time and become rather unnoticeable, but larger scars might be more aesthetically challenging.
If you find yourself with a scar that is red, raised, indented, spreading, or getting larger, you may be looking for ways to improve the appearance. Scars can change over time and can even be affected by sun exposure. If you are bothered by your scar and would like to make it less noticeable, there are cosmetic treatments available that can help.
Treatment for scars include:
- IPL- Photofacial
- Ablative and Non-Ablative resurfacing lasers
- Chemical peels
- Steroid Injections
- Surgical removal or revision
